A SHARED LANGUAGE OF CRAFT

Lexus chose Marquis-Larson for a simple reason - A SHARED LANGUAGE OF CRAFT.

Lexus master craftsmen, known as Takumi, are responsible for applying the subtlety of human touch to every aspect of the Lexus experience.

This approach to creation is mirrored in the manufacturing ethos held by the Marquis Yachts artisans and serves as the shared language between both storied companies.

MEET MARQUIS YACHTS' MASTER CRAFTSMEN

NAME: AL

TRADE: Metal Fabrication

YEARS IN CURRENT POSITION: 33

PHILOSOPHY:Crafting these parts by hand allows me to check every aspect from the raw material to the shape to the flow and finally to the fit. Bow rails are a very visible part on our boats, and I take pride and put passion in everyday to ensure they stand tall and are done right.

NAME: CAROL

TRADE: Prototype Engineering

YEARS IN CURRENT POSITION: 35

PHILOSOPHY: I play an integral role in building 40% of the more than 100 parts constructed by my department. It gives me pride to know that my hands play a part in crafting a boat that families will spend time enjoying together. Those bonding experiences are powerful and they start with the work my teammates and I do in prototype engineering.

NAME: NANETTE

PHILOSOPHY:As a pattern maker I take pride in turning a design idea into a functioning product. My years of experience here at Marquis are dedicated to quality craftsmanship, which is something that cannot be programmed into a machine. It takes a human touch to bring quality comfort.

NAME: CINDY

TRADE: Lamination

YEARS IN CURRENT POSITION: 37

NAME: CHUCK

TRADE: Prototype Engineering

YEARS IN CURRENT POSITION: 41

PHILOSOPHY: I have always had a unique skill of working with my hands. Being a a part of the team here at Marquis Yachts gives me the ability to use that skill to be an integral part of the cutting and fitting together of the fiberglass parts that go into building a unique and beautiful yacht. Using my hands allows me to deliver a better fit and finish than any machine could.

NAME: GARY

TRADE: Prototype Engineering

YEARS IN CURRENT POSITION: 36

PHILOSOPHY: Knowing I have touched every boat that leaves this plant is a true sense of pride. I know I have had a very small piece of the owners’ joy in the tens of thousands of boats we have built. To know each boat is built by hand and not a machine is something to be said in this day and age. It allows the product to have heart – to have emotion.
